Delray Beach, Florida is a fantastic gateway destination. It has more than 30 green parks, golf courses, tennis courts and many water sports. Delray has something for every warm-weather enthusiast. Its pristine beaches with clear emerald waters offers the perfect weekend vacation in the sun.

Top 8 Attractions in Delray Beach

1. Morikami Museum Japanese Garden

The beautiful Morikami Museum Japanese Garden has 16 acres of gardens surrounding its two museum building along with 200 acre park with nature trails and pine forests.

The gardens are inspired by different periods of Japanese gardens. Each garden is supposed to express the character of a unique counterpart in Japan, but at the same time have its own style, not being a complete duplicate.

2. Wakodahatchee Wetlands

The Wakodahatchee Wetlands is a 50 acres park with a 3/4 mile boardwalk that crosses between open water pond, emergent marsh areas, shallow shelves and islands with shrubs and snags to foster nesting and roosting.

It is the perfect spot for birdwatching with over 150 bird species including pied-billed grebe, rabbits, alligators and turtles.

The Silverball Museum is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some family time. It has 88 pinball games which are mostly classic machines and 24 arcade games. The Museum also has with a restaurant and a bar.

The coolest thing is that you only pay an entry fee and do not have to worry about coins or tokens. You can play for half an hour, an hour, half-day or all day! The all day wristbands have reentry, so can visit several different times throughout the day.

The Silverball Museum is open Sunday to Thursday from 11AM to 12AM and on Friday and Saturday until 2AM.

4. Pineapple Grove

The Pineapple Grove Arts district is located just off of the main Atlantic Avenue. This colorful eclectic neighborhood has a little bit of something for everyone to explore. There are plenty of green areas, public arts and entertainment venues.

5. 6X6 First Friday Art Walk

If you visit Delray on the first weekend of the month make sure to go on the First Friday Art Walk. Visit the dozens of art galleries and working studios around downtown to witness the many talented local artists.

The Cornell Art Museum at the Old School Square has a beautiful 6×6 art exhibit donated by artists around the country. It is the perfect way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on a Friday.

The self-guided walking tour is free and runs from 6PM until 9PM.

6. Atlantic Avenue

Atlantic Avenue is the main street of Delray Beach and it hosts many restaurants, bars and boutiques. During the weekends the neighborhood is packed and offers a lot of fun to its visitors.

7. Artists Alley

Artists Alley used to be a one block warehouse area where independent artists decide to gather together and create art. While exploring this beautiful part of town you will find amazing murals, paintings, pottery, sculpture, glass and photography.

The galleries and studios are open every first Friday of the month and every third Thursday from 6PM to 9PM. The majority of studios and art galleries are also open on Saturday afternoon from 12PM to 5PM.

8. Endless Beaches

No visit to Delray is complete without at least a day at the beach. The calm waters and soft sand are great for a day of fun or just relaxing in the sun.

Gulfstream Park is the best beach around Delray beach and the favorite for locals. The only thing to keep in mind is to arrive early in the day as the parking lot does fill up.

The Atlantic Dunes Park is another beautiful beach. Chairs and umbrella rentals are available as well as public bathrooms and showers. However, it has no free parking. Across the street is a small lot that charges $2 per hour.

Accommodation: Hyatt Place Delray Beach

The Hyatt Place Delray Beach provides a comfortable stay at the heart of downtown. With its large comfy beds, fast WiFi and a pool there is no better place to relax in a quiet oasis. We could not be happier with the energetic and welcoming staff always looking to make our stay perfect.

The hotel also includes a well rounded free breakfast, giving you all the energy you need for a busy day touring around town.

Restaurant Recommendation: Park Tavern

While there are many options for delicious dining in Delray our favorite spot in town is the Park Tavern. I would highly recommend the lamb burger with fries for dinner. For Sunday brunch we shared one large chicken and waffles with some delicious mimosas.

The serving sizes are quite large, so beware you do not over order, unless of course, you want to take some food to go. Since we were staying just a block away, we were easily able to just pop on in whenever we got hungry.
