1. Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hot Air Balloon

For our first anniversary of dating in 2014, Steven planned a full day of surprises for us. It was also our last day in Boulder, Colorado and the start of our Travel to Blank adventure as the next day we left for our US National Park road trip.

Steven woke me up early in the morning with a surprise of a delicious breakfast. He only said we had to be somewhere by 6AM. I honestly thought we were going to see the sunrise over the Flatirons. We drove for half an hour to the edge of the city into an empty farm. I spotted a sign that said “Hot Air Balloon” and was in shock and super excited! It was high on my bucket list and I could not believe he planned it for us.

We enjoyed a romantic hot air balloon ride over the city, with amazing views of the town and of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. The ride even included a commemorative photograph, for the perfect keepsake!

Painting Classes

After that we went to get my favorite burger in Boulder, Snarf Burger, which you should definitely try when you visit Boulder. Our last activity for the day was a painting and wine class that I wanted to do for almost a year, and never found the time to do it. It was a great way to close the Boulder chapter of our lives.

2. Limo Ride

Limo ride Zaragoza

For Jaz’s birthday, Steve planned a romantic weekend getaway to Zaragoza, Spain when we were living in Madrid. He had a full weekend planned, starting of course, with exploring the city by foot. We began the evening with a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant and finished the night with a limo ride through Zaragoza. The next day we spent relaxing at the rooftop spa in the hotel with a gorgeous view of the city.

3. US Road Trip

Bryce Canyon

We decided that before leaving Colorado and moving to Guayaquil, Ecuador we should take a road trip across the United States and explore as much of the country as possible. Visiting over 30 states, 12 National Parks we grew so much closer as a couple. We finished our road trip in Florida where we got married and headed on to Ecuador.

4. Europe Trip

Paris Eurotrip

Before we start our masters program at IE University in Spain, we wanted to explore Europe. We visited 8 countries in 45 days. It was full of excitement and sorrow. We fell in love with Europe and made sure every weekend we had free during our studies we would visit a new destination in Europe. However we also got rubbed in our hostel room, including our wedding and engagement ring along with our camera with all of our photos.

5. Ecuador Road Trip/ Galapagos Islands

Once we moved to Ecuador we began traveling, visiting 18 out of the 24 provinces and all 4 regions. We started with the Spondylus route, along the coast of Ecuador. It is perfect if you like to swim and discover new beaches and small towns. We then did the volcanic route, through the highlands, passing different volcanoes and beautiful highland landscapes. Finally we visited Puyo, which is in the rainforest. We flew to the Galapagos, swam with sharks, penguins, sea lions and sea iguanas. It was quite a romantic experience to get to know a country so well in such a short period of time.
