Top Areas to Explore When Going on Vacation to Manistee, Michigan

Located on Lake Michigan, Manistee Michigan is hard to beat as one of the best vacation spots you can choose. From all of the rich history surrounding you to the fun festivals, this city has it all. If you are in the market to look for new adventures, there’s a lot to see and do here.

Explore the Bridges and Dams

Manistee offers self-guided tours of their seven historic bridges and two dams. The bridges consist of 3 vehicles, three railroads, and a pedestrian bridge. You can expect the dams to be a great place to explore. If you get tired of driving, there are many places you can stop along the tour to take a walk and see the beauty of nature

The Tunnel of Trees

If you want to see one of the most impressive sites you can imagine, take a tour through the tunnel of trees. This driving tour consists of black willow trees that hang over the road and look like they are coming together. You can expect to see a lot of wildlife while driving along this peaceful area. Stop on the side of the road and take some pictures that you will never forget.

Explore the Arcadia Marsh

If you have never walked through a marsh, it is beautiful and educational. Arcadia Marsh is located in a nature reserve and is undisturbed by people.  The wetlands have a boardwalk, so you do not disturb the natural habitat, and you stay dry. The only thing to be aware of is wherever marshes are, so are the mosquitoes; bring mosquito spray and dress appropriately.

Lake Michigan Beaches

Manistee has many beaches and waterside towns to explore if nature is not your thing. At the shores of Manistee, you can play in the water, relax on the beach, and when you get hungry, there are food stands located nearby where you can enjoy a bite to eat and a cool refreshing drink.

In the evening, take a nice leisurely walk with your significant other along the beach. Taking in the beauty and the sound of the waves is both a peaceful and romantic setting. If you have never seen the sun setting over the water, it is a view you will never forget.

Food & Shopping

You will find quaint shops with a mix of Michigan-made and locally made items within the town. If you are looking for something specific or just browsing, you are sure to find something that will capture your attention. While walking through the city, make sure you stop to eat at the local restaurants. There is a mix of fine dining, casual dining, and local pubs.

Investment Opportunities

Manistee has more millionaires than any other city in the United States. Once you read this statement, you know there are many investment opportunities for the right person. Since the town borders the waterfront, you could invest in yacht or boat rentals.

Manistee is also located in a prime location to invest in a vacation rental property. Currently, the housing market is exploding with opportunities. The best part of investing in vacation rentals is that you can stay there with your family when it is empty.

Local Culture

If you are interested in the local culture, there are many museums you can find to tell you how Manistee became known as the “Salt City.” You can explore the local lighthouses located along the harbor. If you like the 19th century, there is a victorian era house museum called the Dempsy Mansion.
