Where to see Tulip fields in North Carolina?

Spring is here in North Carolina and with that comes delightful tulip fields that you do not want to miss. Each year, in the spring, Dewberry Farm offers North Carolinians the chance to take beautiful photos and pick their own tulips. This year, they planted over 100,000 tulip bulbs making it a paradise for photographers and plant lovers. The farm also has a some cute animals including baby ducks, sheeps, goats, and miniature donkeys. 

The farm was built in 1989 and originally used for tobacco and sugarcane. The barn that sits below was built entirely from trees found and milled on the property. As a side note, Dewberry Farm sunflowers in the summer and pumpkins and hayrides in the fall.

Another farm you can visit for Tulip picking is Howard Family Farm, located in Harmony, NC. This farm is about two hours away from Raleigh and an hour and a half from Charlotte.

Before your visit:

  • Tickets are $5 per person and $3 for children. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are nonrefundable.
  • Tickets are for a two-hour window, and you need to show up during that time, but you can stay as long as you want. 
  • You can get a photographer permit (you have access to the field an hour before they open) for a fee of $25 an hour.
  • The tulip bulbs are $1.75 each and for just the tulips are $1.25 each.

  • Hours: Monday- Sunday 10 AM – 6 PM.
  • Bring your own scissors or clippers and baskets. Bucket are $2 while supply last. If you want to bring home bulbs, make sure to bring a little hand shovel.
  • Pets are not allowed.

When to Visit the Tulip Fields in NC

Dewberry farm expects the tulips to start blooming by the end of March, depending on the early spring weather, and they normally last about 2 full weeks.

How to get to the tulip fields?

Dewberry Farm is located in the heart Kernersville, NC about an hour and a half from Raleigh or Charlotte and 10 minutes outside of Winston-Salem.

What to Expect When Visiting Dewberry Farms

The land covers over 20 acres, and you are welcome to explore these NC tulip fields, enjoy some of their instagrammable areas such as the tree swings in the tulip field, the flower swing in the stable, or just relax and set up a picnic.
