Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is the most popular place to enjoy the natural landscape right outside of Las Vegas. Situated at the western edge of the city, this park makes for the perfect day trip to get out of the bustling city.
The 13 mile Scenic Drive through Red Rock Canyon allows you to explore the highs and lows of the canyon from the comfort of your car, with many scenic viewpoints and and trailheads along the way. Make sure to watch out for bikes and motorcycles along the road.
The park offers a little bit of something for everyone. Plenty of hiking trails, biking, rock climbing and unique flora and fauna. Most days there are also free guided or interpretive events, suitable for almost all ages.
Plan your day in advance as the scenic loop is a one way road. You do not want to have to wait in line at the entrance and re-drive the entire loop for missing a viewpoint or hike. Take a minute to look over the map when you arrive to see where you want to stop.
Entry is $7 per vehicle and is included in the America the Beautiful Annual Pass. The Red Rock Canyon scenic loop is open daily with hours as follows, depending on the month:
- November to February: 6AM to 5PM
- March: 6AM to 7PM
- April to September: 6AM to 8PM
- October: 6AM to 7PM
We hope you enjoy your trip to Las Vegas and Red Rock Canyon. Let us know which is your favorite picture in the comments below!

Love the photo of the lady sitting on the bench and the way the red hat contrasts with the blue sky. I look forward to receiving further updates from your travels
