As a major metropolitan city, La Paz many hotels and hostels for all tastes and prices. Our favorite place to stay is Selina in La Paz. The artistic hotel has a unique colorful vibe and offers both private room and shared community bunks. Selina is centrally located in the safe neighborhood of Sopocachi, just a short walk from the historic center.
Our favorite reason to stay at Selina La Paz is for its abundance of art covering the walls and defining its interior design. Even the front desk is built out of a truck! What a photogenic hotel to say the least.
We spent two full days in La Paz exploring the city on foot and from the sky in Mi Teleférico cable cars. Read our complete one day guide to La Paz and remember if you are traveling at a more relaxed pace, this itinerary can be split over several days.
Entertaining Basement Bar
On the bottom floor is the Selina Bar, complete with a billiards table and some funky original art painted on the walls. It is a great place to grab a cocktail in the evening with your friends, or make some new travel loving friends.
Combined Hotel and Hostel Experience
At Selina La Paz you can create your own experience in Bolivia. Depending on the room you choose and how you interact with the facilities it feels like a boutique hotel or a friendly hostel.
We stayed in a private standard room and had a lovely experience on our own at the art filled hotel. In the evening we enjoyed a beer on our own at the bar and in the morning we could not get enough of the made to order a la carte breakfast.
There is also a small movie screening room and library nook on the upper level floor. It is the perfect space to relax after a long day visiting the best things to do in La Paz.
Hotel Events and La Paz Tours
The nice thing about Selina is that there are daily events, either to meet people, try new activities, or just stay in your yoga groove even while traveling. Weekly events can include salsa and bachata classes, game nights and a Saturday night party.
They also offer guided tours around La Paz and within the region all at a reasonable price. We compared tour pricing with local guides and online and at Selina the cost matched comparable tours.
After staying at Selina in both La Paz and Arequipa, Peru we will be on the lookout for them in our future travels to enjoy the high quality accommodations and well thought out amenities.
