Top 4 websites for the best flight deals

4-websites

It can get stressful when trying to find the right flights. Flight costs differ between airlines, some leave you with long layovers and some charge different prices depending on how you buy them. That is why we recommend you use a platform that helps you compare the all the airlines prices and flights.

Trust us, when we say that we are always looking for the best price option. We normally go through all of this platforms before we buy our flight. Each platform has unique features that provide different assets to your travel planning and you may find one fits your needs best.

1. Webjet

Webjet has the best deals, especially if you plan on traveling to or through Oceania and Southeast Asia. It is also the most complete comparison site we found with searches ranging from motorhomes, to cruises, insurance and more. One of our favorite features is that it can compare flights with other flight comparison sites, saving you a lot of time when looking for the best deal.

Never miss a great deal or make a mistake with Webjet's friendly reminders.

Webjet is based in Australia, so if you visit their main site, rather than one of their international pages, it is important to note that the prices are in Australian Dollars, not USD.

2. Kayak

Kayak normally is cheaper when traveling through America (North, Central, Caribbean and South America), at least that has been our experience so far. We like Kayak because it is super easy to book a flight and it has the option of flexible dates which allows you to see the options for better price within +/- 3 days.

It also has the feature where you can select a nearby airport, to check if it is cheaper that way. It also gives you the option to compare other travel booking websites such as Expedia, Orbitz, CheapOair and OneTravel.

3. Skyscanner

Skyscanner is cheapest when looking for trips around Europe and Asia, in our experience through booking flights. It is not always the case though. Our favorite feature of Skyscanner is if you do not know where you want to travel, you can search for a cheap flight just by adding your departure airport. It gives you all the options from that location starting with the cheapest one.

Simply find the cheapest destinations from your departure point.

Another feature we like about Skyscanner is that it gives you the option of seen the prices for a whole month, allowing you to find the best prices if your travel dates are more negotiable. This is also a great tool to figure out what is the cheapest time of year to go to a specific destination, which can be helpful in the early planning stages.

4. HipMunk

Hipmunk is arguably the most modern of the four search websites. It allows you to see the price graph with the lowest roundtrip fares for the next 90 days, which is great for last minute adventures. Some of the coolest features it has is its automated integration and alternative search capabilities.

Get your flight searches in whatever platform is most convenient.

You can allow it to integrate with your Google calendar to automatically get travel suggestions when you have out of town events. You can also email HipMunk for automated travel advice and flight recommendations straight to your inbox.

Flight cost comparison:

To compare the cost of flights available through each platform, we looked at a flight from Quito, Ecuador (UIO) to Sydney, Australia (SYD) with flight dates Dec 16 to Dec 18, 2016.

Results:

Webjet: $2,569.70 roundtrip

webjet-2

Kayak: $2,704 roundtrip

Skyscanner: $2,704 roundtrip

Hipmunk: $3,748.88 roundtrip

We think the prices speak for themselves. The flight option provided by Webjet provides the best price for the searched dates. Other platforms provide slightly faster flights, but as budget conscious travelers, several hours on an already two day flight does not make that much of a difference.
