A Luxury Experience at the Riad Star in Marrakech

A Luxury Experience at the Riad Star in Marrakech

Have you ever felt like you are entering a new world? Stepping through the doors of the Riad Star we became a prince and princess in a Moroccan fairytale. The former residence of vaudeville star Josephine Baker is now an intimate oasis in the busy Marrakech medina.

The hotel is located right behind the Ben Youssef Madrasa. It is only a 8 minute walk from the Madrasa and the Marrakech Museum. Our personalized luxury experience began with some hot mint tea and cookies as the check in processes took place.

An Elegant Oasis in Marrakech

Entering into the first courtyard and breakfast lounge you are greeted with intricate artistic designs on the elegant white walls from the floor all the way to the top of the courtyard.

The second courtyard has a beautiful dipping pool that turns into a magic spot when the colorful lights are turned on in the evening. In the adjoining dinning room there is a rack of Josephine’s clothing that you can try on. You can instantly turn your dinner into a formal affair.

Climbing the stairs to the top floor we were greeted with a beautiful rooftop terrace. The large terrace covered two buildings and has many comfy seating and bench areas surrounded by green plants. Most importantly, there are coverings to keep you out of the hot Moroccan sun and in the cool shade perfect for relaxing.

When we entered our room we instantly fell in love with it. It was a white themed room with beautiful woodwork on the ceiling and walls. The riad has thirteen room and each with its own personality and style.

In the rooms you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay including a safe, a board game, books and a mini fridge. They also have two traditional dresses for you to enjoy Marrakech in the traditional style!

A Delicious Homemade Meal

complimentary home cooked dinner on the first day

The Riad Star became our home away from home while visiting the city. They offer a complimentary home cooked dinner on the first day of your stay. The homemade lamb tagine was spectacular. The flavorful dish was one of the best we had in the entire country.

The dishes just kept on coming and each as unique and delicious as the last. We were sad that our stomachs did not allow us to finish every last bite. This fancy dinner was a great way to welcome us to the city.

Every morning we were greeted with the traditional Moroccan breakfast of pancakes and bread with a verity of marmalades, yogurt with fruit, fresh orange juice and of course coffee.

Exploring Marrakech at our doorstep

Staying in the heart of Marrakech is the easiest and most comfortable way to explore the old medina. The Riad Star offers the best way to see the city, a free app! The app has all the information you will need to see all the city has to offer.

It covers the main attractions, museums, restaurants and the best places to buy authentic souvenirs. For each location, there is a few sentences about it, so you get the full history of what you are looking at. The best part is, it includes an offline map, so you never have to worry about finding your way while walking through the narrow streets.

The Riad provides you with a simple cell phone during your visit just in case you do get lost during the day. The staff will also help guide you to your first attraction of the day, as walking in circles is no way to start off your day.

The app is available for both iPhone and Android.
